Several Doctors Join Baton Rouge General Physicians This Fall
A number of new physicians have joined Baton Rouge General Physicians this fall. Baton Rouge General Physicians offers individuals and families throughout the Capital Area top-quality healthcare in convenient locations from Livingston to Brusly. Please welcome the following physicians into our Community of Caring: Dr. Peter Cabiran, Dr. Henry Dixon, Dr. Michael Yorek, Dr. Vincent Nguyen, Dr. Gunjan Raina and Dr. Amer Awad.
Dr. Peter Cabiran has joined Louisiana Internal Medicine Associates (LIMA). Dr. Cabiran previously worked at Hospital Medicine Group, also a partner group with Baton Rouge General Physicians. Dr. Cabiran is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Charity Hospital of Louisiana in New Orleans. Dr. Cabiran also completed additional training and an additional residency in gastroenterology at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Cabiran is licensed in both Louisiana and Georgia and is Board certified in internal medicine. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Louisiana State Medical Society, American Board of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Henry Dixon has also joined LIMA. Dr. Dixon is a graduate of Tufts School of Medicine in Boston, Mass. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Veterans Administration Hospital in Boston. Dr. Dixon also completed an additional residency in internal medicine at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Cabiran and Dr. Dixon join Drs. Nicholas Campo, James Hargroder, Jed Morris and Joseph Nesheiwat at Louisiana Internal Medicine Associates. The office recently relocated to 3401 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge. The phone number is (225) 387-0851.
Dr. Michael Yorek has joined Oak Grove Family Practice. Dr. Yorek is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed his residency in family medicine. He is Board Certified in family medicine and a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians and Louisiana State Medical Society.
Among the many venues Dr. Yorek has provided care to patients, he spent eight years as a staff physician in the United States Air Force. His titles prior to being honorably discharged as a Major in 2004 include Chief of Aerospace Medicine to the 2nd Medical Operations Squadron, and Chief of the Medical Staff to the 319th Air Expeditionary Group in the Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron.

Advanced Family Medical Clinic, led by Dr. Vincent T. Nguyen, has joined Baton Rouge General Physicians. Dr. Nguyen is a graduate of the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Miss. He completed his residency in family medicine at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Dr. Nguyen is Board Certified in family medicine and is fluent in both English and Vietnamese. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Louisiana Academy of Family Practice.

Dr. Gunjan Raina has joined Family Health Center at St. James Place. Dr. Raina is a graduate of Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. She completed her residency in family medicine at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Penn. She is an associate member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is fluent in English and French.

Dr. Amer Awad has joined Baton Rouge Neurology Associates, part of Baton Rouge General Physicians. Dr. Awad is a graduate of the University of Jordan Medical School in Amman, Jordan. He completed his residency in internal medicine and medical oncology at King Hussein Cancer Center in Jordan and Trinitas Hospital at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Dr. Awad is also a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Dr. Awad is an attending Neurologist, Epileptologist and Neuromuscular Physician with special interest in Clinical Neuroimmunology. Dr. Awad is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry with Honors and he is board eligible for the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology and American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is also an actiev member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
