According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems."


The GET Fit! Educational Series is back!

Now that you have all made your new years resolutions, Baton Rouge General wants to help you stick to them.  Click here to view the schedule for the GET Fit! Educational Series

The GET FIT! educational series is comprised of five 30-45-minute health seminars that include Portion Control, Fitness 101, Recipe Overhaul, Food Label Reading and Stress Management.  These seminars, which will be led by health professionals with subject matter expertise, are designed to be part of an ongoing effort to educate and empower individuals with the latest and most progressive information on nutrition, fitness and wellness. The series will start on January 9, 2014 and will be posted under the Employee Information tab on the Intranet. You may also obtain a copy at any of the biometric screenings.

    Our goal at Baton Rouge General is to help you stay healthy and well. Through Baton Rouge General Fit!, we have convenient programs designed to get your health back or track and keep you healthy.

    Employee Biometric Screenings

    The deadline to complete your Biometric screening has been extended to April 9, 2014 due to the inclement weather we experienced.  The last day to reach your weight reduction goal is June 30, 2014. 

    Biometric Screenings will measure the following:

    • Blood Pressure
    • Height
    • Weight
    • Cholesterol Profile
    • Glucose (and A1C for diabetics)
    • Body Mass Index
    • Waist Circumference
    • Body Fat Percentage
